Loud speakers of our mosques are an eternal suffering. The ignorant Khateebs, start their speakers early in the morning, after Fajr prayer. Some times they do not even wait for Fajr. They start their speakers and start yelling. This creates a lot of noise pollution and disturbs common people a lot. Though use of speakers is banned in mosques except for Athaan, no one cares the law. State is also not willing to implement it. We Pakistani people are so untamed that once a class-fellow of mine told me with pride, that his grand father, a khateeb in a mosque in Sialkot, never bothered such banning of loud speakers, and he continues with his shreiks on speakers.
An important point, that is missed by our legislators is that Islam never directs us to transmit even Athaan on loud speakers. So no justification of insisting to transmit Athaan on loudspeaker. Even this causes a great trouble for those whose houses are surrounded by mosques. Students, patients small babies, those who want to relax, those who say prayers, those who meditate on Holy Quran and other normal people are extremely disturbed by this. So law must be amended regarding loudspeakers. Even Athaan should not be allowed to be transmitted on speakers.
If Athaan is banned on speakers, only then we can get rid of shrieks of khateebs, other than Athaan. I have read a peace of news that in India or in some state of it, they have banned to transmit Athaan of Fajr on loudspeaker. I congratulate them. Athaans of remaining four prayers must also be banned. So called Islamic countries like Pakistan must follow what they are doing in India. This will be the first step towards Islamisation, as according to Hadeeth, our Deen is naseehah (good intentions). No government can claim that it consists of Enlightened Moderates, unless it bans loudspeakers of mosques altogether.
