It was told in state owned television net work, on July 11, 2005, that a leopard was shot near Abbottabad, NWFP. The leopard was accused to kill 5 people.
Leopard (Panthera pardus) is a vulnerable species. It is endangered in some parts of Asia.
In the state owned TV, it was told that the animal was caught in the cage. And even then it was shot.
Even if the leopard really developed a habit to kill humans, it should not be shot. WWF and others should take steps to save such animals. As attacks on people are still continued, after the alleged leopard is dead, it is suspected that more leopards will be killed in the area.
